It’s time to saddle up for another round of concerts at the Del Mar Racetrack, which this season will present 11 post-race concerts between July and September.

Billed as the 2016 Del Mar Summer Concert Series, this year’s edition kicks off with a July 22 performance by Cold War Kids and concludes with a Sept. 2 show by The Wailers, the Jamaican band whose name has long been synonymous with that of reggae-music pioneer Bob Marley. Ziggy Marley, one of Bob’s sons, will appear July 30.

The roster also includes everyone from 311 and Girl Talk to Chromeo and Fitz and The Tantrums. The jam-happy San Diego reggae-rock band Pepper will perform for the second consecutive year at the Del Mar concert series. For the first time in recent memory, the lineup also includes a country-music artist, Chris Young, who performs Aug. 12.

The full list of acts and dates appears below. Sadly, the lineup does not include such ideally suited racetrack performers as Ireland’s pioneering Celtic-rock group Horslips or a reunion by the San Diego band Horsefeathers, whose lead singer, Mick Garris, went on to direct such horror films as “Sleepwalkers,” “Desperation” and “Riding the Bullet.”

This will be the sixth year the Del Mar Summer Concert Series takes place at the standing-room-only Seaside Stage, which is located just beyond the west end of the racetrack’s Grandstand. Concerts are free with the standard racetrack admission fee of $6 and attendees must be 18 or older to attend. Concertgoers arriving after the last race of the day will be charged a $20 admission fee. .

Performances are scheduled to begin shortly after the last race of the day. On Saturdays and Sundays, the post time for the first race is usually at 2 p.m. On Fridays, the post time for the first race is at 4 p.m. General parking costs $10; valet parking is $20. Free shuttle service is available from and to the nearby Solana Beach train station.
