As many as half a dozen men chased two men through an apartment complex and stabbed them in Fallbrook Monday night, sheriff’s officials said.

The victims were confronted at the entrance to the apartment parking lot on South Vine Street by the group hanging out near an old white Honda Civic shortly before 10 p.m., sheriff’s Sgt. Dwain Washington said.

Some of the men had bandannas over their faces. They “exchanged heated words” with the victims, Washington said in a statement. One victim, age 20, was stabbed.

The group chased both men through the complex and the other victim, age 22, also was stabbed.

A witness saw the Civic leaving with the headlights off, Washington said. Deputies had no detailed description of the attackers, who wore dark clothes and hoodies.

Paramedics took the two wounded men to a hospital. No information was given about the extent of their injuries.
