Whoomp! (There It Was).

Feeling nostalgic for the 1990s?

Neither am I.

It was the decade of the Spice Girls and Sugar Ray; the decade when Prince changed his name to an unpronounceable symbol (which comedian Judy Tenuta described as “the symbol for feminine hygiene”).

And it was the decade when boy bands ruled, including boy bands with numbers in their names, like All-4-One, 98 Degrees and Boyz-II-Men. There was even a short-lived faux boy band called 2gether, the subject of an MTV movie and spinoff TV series.

Radio station 92.5’s Summer Jam, which takes place Saturday at Valley View Casino Center, celebrates the ’90s, with a lineup that features at least five of the acts featured in this year’s 61-city “I Love the ’90s Tour.” Some of the other acts might be better suited for an “I Love the Late ’80s Tour,” or, perhaps, an “I Have Amnesia Tour.”

Under any name, Saturday’s show here promises a mix of nostalgia, cheesiness and cheesy nostalgia, along with the possibility of some memorable musical moments. The lineup here includes: Vanilla Ice; Salt-N-Pepa; Rob Base; Tone Lōc; Jody Watley; Grandmaster’s Furious Five, featuring Melle Mel and Scorpio; Color Me Badd; The Jets; Young MC; and Candyman.

The Jets, incidentally, remain one of the largest bands of siblings to achieve U.S. pop-music prominence. The Minnesota group’s original lineup featured eight brothers and sisters from the Wolfgramm family. Their parents emigrated from the Polynesian island kingdom of Tonga.

There isn’t room to preview all the Summer Jam performers, but here are four that catch our eye, for good reasons — and bad. (Why the still mighty Salt-N-Pepa is playing second fiddle to Vanilla Ice is a mystery.)
