DA: Video shows molest of dental patient

Share

About seven minutes of surveillance video show a dental assistant molesting a 17-year-old patient who had been under anesthesia, a prosecutor said Friday after the defendant’s arraignment.

Luis Ramos, 36, pleaded not guilty to seven counts of sexual battery of an unconscious person.

San Diego Superior Court Judge David Szumowski set the defendant’s bail at $100,000, and ordered him to stay away from the teenager identified as the victim in the complaint.

Ramos was arrested Wednesday at his El Cajon home.

A San Diego police captain said the teen underwent dental surgery at Park Boulevard Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery office on Park Boulevard, near Polk Avenue, on Jan. 21, and was waking up from anesthesia when she realized someone was touching her body inappropriately.

The girl reported the incident to police the same day. Investigators served a search warrant at the dental office and recovered the surveillance video.

“It shows Mr. Ramos doing what he’s charged with,” Deputy District Attorney Martin Doyle said outside the courtroom.

Ramos has no criminal record. The charges carry a potential sentence of 10 years.
