On Sunday night, Thorsen celebrates the release of his fifth and newest album, “Solos and Duos — Bass Is the Space.” It features 11 instrumental compositions and two vocal numbers (the latter featuring singer/guitarist Steph Johnson). The album includes three solo bass pieces and a series of duets with pianist Joshua White, trumpeter Gilbert Castellanos, former Roberta Flack/Miles Davis bassist Marshall Hawkins and drummer Fernando Gomez.

All of the guest artists will join Thorsen to perform the album live at the all-ages Bread & Salt, where Thorsen will also spotlight at least a few songs that are not on “Bass is the Space.” The concert will be preceded by an art opening featuring the work of Susan Snyder, who did the cover art for auspicious Thorsen’s 1996 debut album, “First Impressions.”
