The third annual Imperial Avenue Street Fair should be a treat for the senses.

The nine-hour fete will feature 16 musical acts on three stages, 25 visual artists displaying their works, a new Kids Zone and an array of food, drink and craft vendors. Admission is free.

“We are thrilled to be working to help showcase the Greater Logan Heights community through the Imperial Avenue Street Festival again this year,” Monte Jones, chief executive officer, BAME Community Development Corporation, said in a statement.

“The Imperial Avenue Street Festival provides San Diegans of all ages an opportunity to explore one of the oldest neighborhoods, a ‘melting pot’ of San Diego with wonderful sights, tastes and personal style. Whether you are in search of a new sound or would like to expand your culinary palate, the festival has something for the entire family.”

Last year’s edition drew an estimated 6,000 people. The headliner this year’s festival is Latin-jazz great Poncho Sanchez and his dance-happy band. The Grammy Award-winning Sanchez is one of the top conga players in the land. He and his brassy group expertly create rhythmic propulsion, whether playing a cha-cha, a James Brown funk classic, a New Orleans-flavored romp or almost anything in between.
