Shooting, carjacking at National City bar
NATIONAL CITY —
A man was shot and a woman carjacked at gunpoint at a National City sports bar early Saturday, police said.
The 36-year-old woman was at the National City Sports Lounge on Sweetwater Road about 12:30 a.m. when she heard gunshots and soon after was confronted by a gunman demanding her car, said National City police Sgt. Parris Bull. He got in the car and told her to drive away, but she was able to escape.
The carjacker then fled in the vehicle, police said.
Later, a 29-year-old Lemon Grove man with a single gunshot wound to this upper torso turned up at Paradise Valley Hospital in National City, Bull said. His condition was not known.
