Pedestrian fatality identified

CARLSBAD -- The man killed while walking on the Jefferson Street freeway bridge Monday evening has been identified by the county Medical Examiner as Philip Martin Hollins, 67, from Chichester, England.

He was crossing from east to west on Jefferson over Interstate 5 when he was struck by a southbound pickup truck about 5:20 p.m., according to police.

The driver of the truck was a 51-year-old Carlsbad man. Police said investigation of the crash is continuing.
