Sporadic showers possible through Friday

Share

Sporadic showers will fall across San Diego County through Friday night, although it appears that Thanksgiving Day is likely to be mostly clear and cool, says the National Weather Service.

Forecasters say a weak storm from the Gulf of Alaska will produce spurts of rain that will add up to about a half-inch of precipitation along the coast and twice that amount inland by early Saturday, when temperatures begin to turn warmer.

The possibility of showers includes early Friday, when shoppers are expected to turn out for Black Friday sales across the county.

The system reached Southern California late Tuesday evening and dropped about one-tenth of an inch of rain in many spots around San Diego County by early Wednesday. The clouds arriving with the system will prevent daytime highs from rising above the low-to-mid 60s along the coast Wednesday through Friday.

Sample of county rainfall through 7 a.m. Wednesday: Alpine, 0.21’’; San Diego City Heights, 0.18’’; Ramona Airport, 0.17’’; Montgomery Field, 0.14’’; Escondido, 0.12’’; Lindbergh Field, 0.07’’; El Cajon, 0.06’’.

San Diego’s Lindbergh Field has received 1.28’’ of rain this November, which is 0.52’’ above normal. The average monthly temperature, to day, is 64.6 degrees, which is 2.6 degrees above normal.
