Chargers to promote LB Cordarro Law

Share

Cordarro Law spent the past three games on the Chargers practice squad.

On Tuesday, he’ll receive a promotion.

San Diego is expected to sign the outside linebacker onto its 53-man roster, a source said Monday. Law bolsters the depth at a position that saw Melvin Ingram (hip) be placed on injured reserve Saturday with a designation to return this year. Also, Jerry Attaochu has been limited recently with a hamstring ailment, and Reggie Walker injured his ankle Sunday versus Buffalo.

Law, 25, becomes the second ex-CFL player on the team.

Wide receiver Dontrelle Inman made the club out of training camp. He and Law tried out for the Chargers last December after completing two seasons with the Toronto Argonauts and Calgary Stampeders, respectively.

Colton Underwood, a rookie outside linebacker from Illinois State, will fill Law’s spot on the practice squad, a source said. Underwood was with the Chargers in training camp.

“(Law) made a fair share of plays in the preseason and did a great job,” coach Mike McCoy said. “In practice, he’s done a great job of the look team. The way he works every day, he’s really turned it on in practice and prepared us to help us win football games.”

Now, Law can make plays Sunday.

The Chargers will host the Jaguars at Qualcomm Stadium.
