Ingram out vs. Bills, Allen iffy

Melvin Ingram tore into the Seahawks last Sunday.

“Best game of his career in my opinion,” Jarret Johnson said.

The Chargers will have to wait awhile for the encore.

Ingram won’t play Sunday against the Bills. Listed as out on the Chargers’ injury report Friday, he missed all three practices this week with a hamstring injury.

“Melvin’s tough to replace; good thing we have good young players,” said Johnson, a teammate since Ingram arrived in 2012 as A.J. Smith’s final first-round draft pick.

Limited in two practices by a hamstring last week, Ingram went against the Super Bowl champs for 39 of 42 defensive snaps and, helping the Chargers toward a 30-21 victory, collected a sack, a tackle for loss and a forced fumble. In Game 1 at Arizona, he played 49 of 74 snaps and had a quarterback hit.

Depth test

Ingram’s backup is rookie Jerry Attaochu. He sat out the week’s three practices, too, also because of a hamstring injury. The Chargers listed him as questionable.

Attaochu had a sack and a punt block in Game 1, playing 20 defensive snaps. He worked nine defensive snaps against Seattle, once appearing on third-and-5 at inside linebacker next to Eric Weddle.

Reggie Walker has game experience at Ingram’s position, in addition to inside linebacker.

Johnson, who didn’t play versus the Seahawks, went full in all three practices this week. Against the Bills, he could see an expanded role in nickel packages.

Tourek Williams trained at Ingram’s spot for parts of last year before Ingram’s December return from reconstructive knee surgery.

In the preseason, rookie Cordarro Law worked largely at end, in a rush role similar to Dwight Freeney’s. Law is on the practice squad.

Allen questionable

Also questionable on the injury report were Keenan Allen (groin) and Jahleel Addae (hamstring).

Allen was limited Thursday and Friday. Addae, coming off a mid-August hamstring injury, returned Wednesday and was full Friday.

Notably

• Rich Ohrnberger and Johnnie Troutman were full participants for the first time this week, in the lightest session of the three. Both missed Thursday’s practice and were limited Wednesday with back ailments. They are probable, as are Brandon Flowers (groin), Antonio Gates (hamstring) and Corey Liuget (ankle). Ingram joined Ryan Mathews (knee) as out.

• An 80-percent chance of rain and 69-degree temperatures are in the greater Buffalo forecast for Sunday. Kickoff is 10 a.m. Pacific.
