Chargers’ injury picture is murky

Share

As expected, running backs Ryan Mathews and Donald Brown aren’t practicing Tuesday as the Chargers prepare for Thursday night’s game at Denver.

Rookies Jerry Attaochu (hamstring) and Jason Verrett, inactive with injury last Sunday, were on the field and each in helmet. Like Attaochu, cornerback Verrett (shoulder) was in individual drills, but that was also the case last week when he was a limited participant.

Brandon Flowers (concussion) wore a helmet but wasn’t working in drills. It is difficult to be cleared on concussion for a short week.

In what could be “veterans’ rest,” Rich Ohrnberger and Dwight Freeney weren’t part of individual drills.

Mathews hasn’t practiced since leaving Game 2 with a knee sprain.

But in the last several days, he’s been out and about more at Chargers Park.
