A body found near Julian was identified Thursday as that of Sally Estabrook, the Fallbrook woman who went missing for nearly two months, according to the San Diego County Sheriff's Department. Hundreds of searchers, many of them volunteers, looked for her for days, scouring a six-mile area around the campground.

A maintenance worker found the partial skeletal remains of Estabrook's body Wednesday in dense brush behind a residence in Julian.

The 75-year-old woman had Alzheimer's disease and was reported missing by her husband from the Pinezanita RV Park & Campgrounds Oct. 4, sheriff's homicide Lt. John Maryon said.

The campground is about four miles south of Julian along state Route 79.

Deputies were called out by reports of a body about 3:20 p.m. Wednesday off Coulter Ridge Road, near Route 79. Maryon said Wednesday that it didn't appear foul play was involved.

Estabrook is the mother-in-law of Megadeth lead singer Dave Mustaine. She and her husband had been camping with friends in their recreational vehicle on Oct. 4 when her husband went to take a shower about 4 p.m. When he returned, his wife was gone.

Mustaine and his wife, Pam, had pleaded at a Sheriff's Department news conference for the public's help in finding her as family and friends took part in the search.

The County Medical Examiner’s Office will conduct an autopsy to try to determine the cause and manner of death.
