Share

Six men tried to pull a 19-year-old San Diego State University student into their car early Sunday morning, but she was able to escape and call police.

The woman was walking home when she dropped her cellphone near 55th Street and Aztec Walk about 12:30 a.m., SDSU police Capt. Josh Mays said. Before she could pick it up, someone in a nearby Toyota Camry grabbed the phone and drove off with it.

A few minutes later, the car returned and the people inside offered to return the phone, Mays said. When she went to retrieve it, one of the men tried to pull her inside.

He was wearing khaki pants, camouflage boxers and no shirt. He had several tattoos on his chest and arms.

The victim didn’t get a good look at the other men.
