Montmelo, Spain, May 10 (EFE). Mercedes continued its complete domination of this year's Formula One season, with Britain's Lewis Hamilton grabbing pole position for Sunday's Spanish Grand Prix and Germany's Nico Rosberg also earning the right to start on the front row.
Hamilton, currently in second place in the drivers' standings with 75 points, posted a best lap time of 1:25.232 in Saturday's Q3 at the Circuit de BarcelonaCatalunya in Barcelona to beat out his teammate Nico Rosberg, who leads the standings with 79 points.
Hamilton has won three of the four races of the 2014 F1 season, while Rosberg won the Australian Grand Prix. Those two Mercedes drivers have also snagged pole position for all five of this season's races.
Spanish Ferrari driver Fernando Alonso, who is in third place with 41 points, posted a best lap of 1:27.140 and will start seventh.
Australian Red Bull driver Daniel Ricciardo and Finland's Valtteri Bottas, who drives for Williams, will start third and fourth, respectively, while French Lotus driver Romain Grosjean and Finnish Ferrari driver Kimi Raikkonen will start on the third row.
