5 Seconds confirm 2015 summer show here

Fresh from its world tour with One Direction, chart-topping Australian band sets San Diego headlining debut at Sleep Train Amphitheatre for next July

Some cynics predicted that the career of the young Australian pop-punk band 5 Seconds of Summer wouldn't last much longer than its name implied. Guess again.

5 Seconds of Summer, "She Looks So Perfect"

This week, the barely three-year-old band's debut album entered the national Billboard charts at No. 1, with sales of 259,000, making it the third biggest-selling album in the U.S. of the year so far -- and the biggest selling debut album by any band since Daughtry's first album in 2006. Released in February, the video for 5 Seconds of Summer's hit single, "She Looks So Perfect," has now nearly 60 million YouTube views.

Now, the band -- which created a buzz as the opening act on One Direction's "Where We Are Now World Tour" -- has announced its first U.S. headlining tour. Their "Rock Out with Your Socks Out 2015" tour takes place, fittingly, next summer and will include a July 18 show here at the nearly 20,000-capacity Sleep Train Amphitheatre.

That's the same venue where 5 Seconds of Summer opened for One Direction last summer. To preview the tour, the band will play two November shows at the 18,000-capacity Los Angeles Forum. Both those dates sold-out in a near-instant.

Tickets for 5 Seconds of Summer's Sleep Train show here are priced at $20 to $69.50 each, plus service charges (which brings those totals to $25 and $80, respectively).

Tickets for the general public go on sale at 10 a.m. Aug. 9 at all Ticketmaster outlets, online at livenation.com any by phone at (800) 745-3000.

Pre-sales begin Aug. 5 for fan club members and Citi card holders (that latter category refers to parents, since 5 Seconds Of Summer's fan base consists largely of tweens and teens). At least two other pre-sales will run from Aug. 5 to Aug. 8. More information is available on the band's website.
