Phish confirms San Diego concert
Phish is returning to San Diego.
As part of its fall West Coast tour, the top jam-band will perform Oct. 25 at Sleep Train Amphitheatre in Chula Vista. The 31-year-old quartet’s concert here comes in between a show at the Los Angeles Forum and three performances in San Francisco.
Tickets for the Oct. 25 concert here go on sale Aug. 9 at 10 .m. to the general public at all Ticketmaster outlets, online at livenation.com and by phone at (800) 745-3000. Tickets are priced at $51 to $66, each, which with service charges comes out to $64.85 and $81.40, respectively.
A pre-sale offering “a limited number of tickets” runs now through late Aug. 3 on the Phish website. The ticket prices listed for the pre-sale are somewhat lower, ranging from $45 to $60, each, with an $11.50 shipping fee per order and a $5.70 convenience fee.
However, only the $60 tickets -- which include both reserved seat or general admission/standing-room-only in the orchestra pit options -- are available on the Phish website as of this writing.
If memory serves, Phish made its San Diego debut in 1994 with a pair of sold-out shows at downtown’s Spreckels Theatre, where the band performed an a cappella version of “Amazing Grace.” Each of the band’s subsequent San Diego concerts were in larger venues.
In 2012, Phish guitarist-singer Trey Anastasio wrote the music for “Hand On A Hard Body,” the Broadway-bound musical that had its world debut at the La Jolla Playhouse.
Jim Hebert talks to Trey Anastasio (of Phish) and Amanda Greene about a new production at La Jolla Playhouse, ‘Hands on a Hardbody.’
