Plan ahead: Look like Frida

Share

Because she wore colorful dresses and dramatic, ribbon-accented braids (and of course because of her iconic eyebrows), Mexican artist Frida Kahlo has long been a great, sophisticated choice for a Halloween costume.

But thanks to a contest being put on by The Complete Frida Khalo exhibition in Point Loma, fans of the artist don’t have to wait until Halloween to dress up like her.

The look-alike event features appetizers, cocktails, a photo booth so you can take a picture with your fellow Frida fanatics and contests for best costume. If you plan on dressing up, make sure to register for free admission; judging begins at 7 p.m.

Otherwise spectators pay $10 and the ticket includes admission to the exhibit, which features replicas of Khalo’s work.

Details: 6 to 8 p.m. Friday. NTC at Liberty Station Barracks 3, 2765 Truxtun Road, Point Loma. $10 or free for registered participants. (619) 677-3101 or thecompletefrida.com
