Proof that drought is easing

You’ve probably noticed lush green shoots of grass popping up across San Diego County’s hills and valleys. That’s a direct result of December’s heavy rain and snow. San Diego has recorded 4.42’’ of rain this month, which is about 3’’ above normal. The same sort of thing is happening statewide, as shown in these comparative images taken by NASA’s Modis satellite. The drought isn’t over. But if current weather patterns continue, the state’s reservoirs might return to respectable levels by spring, and wildfire danger will ease everywhere.
