A woman who authorities said stole packages from homes in East County is accused of committing another theft within two days after she was released from jail, a sheriff’s official said.

Martha Lampley, 37, was arrested Thursday in Spring Valley by detectives from the San Diego Regional Fugitive Task Force on numerous felony warrants, sheriff’s Sgt. Greg Hampton said.

She was originally arrested Nov. 29 and had posted bail on Dec. 4 after being jailed for a parole violation, burglary and possession of controlled substances. She is accused of taking packages from in front of homes in Lemon Grove, Spring Valley and Rancho San Diego.

Within 48 hours of her release, she was accused of stealing an iPad from an elderly Spring Valley man who had let her into his home, Hampton said.

She has now been identified in photo lineups by victims and witnesses in various thefts, the sergeant said.

Hampton said Lampley has a “long pattern” of theft and could face 44 years in prison if convicted of the current charges, which include burglary, theft, and receiving stolen property.

Lampley was booked into jail Thursday on three counts of burglary, one count of theft from an elder or dependent adult, one count of theft, and one count of receiving stolen property, according to the Sheriff’s website.
