San Diego aircraft carrier Carl Vinson sends home greetings
Cutest Navy holiday video ever?
The San Diego-based aircraft carrier Carl Vinson is in the Arabian Sea while its jets take part in airstrikes against Islamic State militants in Iraq and Syria.
Despite that dangerous work, it IS still the holiday season.
This week, the Vinson crew made a video to send warm wishes home to San Diego.
Two singers croon the theme “next year, I’ll be home for the holidays,” while sailors in Santa hats take a minute from their jobs to wave to the camera.
Since it’s the Navy, sailors never know where they might end up, if called to duty.
But here’s hoping those words come true.
The singers -- who also wrote the song -- are Petty Officer 2nd Class Samuel LeCain and Petty Officer 3rd Class James Bleyle. McCain also played the guitar for the recording. Both work in the ship's media department.
The Vinson, which left San Diego in August, is not quite halfway through what’s expected to be a marathon nine-and-a-half-month deployment.
