The Chargers have little experience on their defensive line depth.

It’s possible that soon could change.

The team has expressed in former Broncos nose tackle Kevin Vickerson, sources said Sunday. The 31-year-old has started 43 career games, including 25 the past two seasons. It would be premature, however, to say a signing is imminent. Vickerson was released Saturday.

San Diego is currently carrying six defensive linemen. Two of the three reserves are rookies.

Nose tackle Ryan Carrethers was a fifth-round draft pick in May. Defensive end Tenny Palepoi went undrafted. The backup unit also has end Lawrence Guy who has started two of 21 career games.

Vickerson, listed at 6-foot-5 and 328 pounds, has 153 career tackles and 6.5 sacks in 71 games.

Be it him or someone else, changes to the 53-man roster are coming. The Chargers are expected to make adjustments in the coming days following Saturday’s league-wide cutdown from a 75- to 53-man roster.
