Hank Bauer apologizes for comments
Chargers broadcaster Hank Bauer apologized Tuesday for an anti-Semitic joke he referenced on-air during Sunday’s game against the 49ers.
Bauer issued the following statement via Facebook and Twitter:
“I made a hurtful insinuation that I regret and I would like to express how sorry I am. My poor choice of words were unfortunately open for negative interpretation, please know it was never my intention to offend any of my listeners. I hope you accept my apology.”
The Chargers listed Bauer and play-by-play partner Josh Lewin in the broadcast lineup for Thursday’s exhibition against the Cardinals. Kickoff is 7 p.m. at Qualcomm Stadium.
