A transient suspected of stabbing another man to death in Barrio Logan last weekend was arrested Thursday in National City, police said.

Christian Garcia Veloria, 30, of San Ysidro, was stabbed about 3:15 p.m. Saturday in an alley near Chicano Park, , San Diego police homicide Lt. Mike Hastings said.

He said Veloria got into an argument of some kind with an acquaintance who attacked him, then chased him for a few blocks until Veloria collapsed in the middle of Newton Avenue near Sampson Street

Hastings said investigators identified Francisco Castro, 28, an unemployed boat repairman, as a suspect in the case. National City police arrested Castro along Sweetwater Road about 3:30 a.m. Thursday.

Investigators still don’t know the reason for the assault, Hastings said.
